As CCI’s biggest contract to date, this large Sewer Improvements project for Edgecombe County provides new sewer services for 238 residences currently utilizing septic tanks. Nearly 19,000 LF of 8” DIP & PVC gravity main and 76 manholes are required to convey the flow from the added services. Due to the large area covered by the project, two new submersible pump stations are needed to collect the sewer before eventually pumping back into the existing county sewer network. Both stations have duplex 25HP pumps in 8’ dia. wet wells approximately 32’ deep and required extensive shoring and dewatering for a safe and efficient installation. Transfer of the sewer from the pump stations back to the county’s gravity system is achieved via more than 14,000 LF of 6” DIP & PVC force mains. Other major components of this project are several jack & bores for the gravity and force main, an 8” horizontal directional drill, electrical & SCADA improvements at the new pump stations, septic tank abandonments and approximately 8,500 SY of asphalt patching. Key subcontractors on this job are Coastline Electrical, JCR Underground, Moye Fence Co., Nehrenz Enterprises, Razorback Boring, Spruill & Associates, Southeastern Erosion Control, Systems East and TPT Coating.
